Intra Vascular Ultrasound

Conventional angiography gives us luminogram of the vessel means it gives only the criticality of the lesion but doesn't give information regarding the intravascular pathology of the lesion. IVUS is an invasive tool which gives us additional information of the vascular pathology starting from intimal, medial to adventitial morphology of the vessel which further guide us for the optimal treatment of the lesion and higher long term clinical outcome.

Indications of IVUS

Indications of IVUS

Left Main Coronary Artery Interventions
  • To define the lesion severity
  • Stent sizing
  • Proper apposition of the stent
  • Optimization of MLA
  • Good long term outcome
Complex Coronary Interventions
  • Bifurcation angioplasties
  • CTO(Chronic Total Occlusion) interventions
  • Rota ablation angioplasties
To assess the plaque morphology
  • Vulnerable plaques
  • Fibrous plaque
  • Heavily Calcified plaque
  • Fibrofatty plaque
Routine angioplasty
  • Stent size
  • Confirmation of landing zone
  • Proper apposition of the stent for long term clinical outcome.
  • Edge dissection, tissue prolapse
Zero contrast angioplasty in renal compromised patients.
  • Breakthrough technology in which PCI can be done in a renal compromised patients with almost zero contrast.
Stent Failures
  • Instent restenosis (ISR)
  • Stent thrombosis
